Green July 4th

The 4th of July is just a few days away, so as you prepare for your Fourth of July weekend celebrations, keep these tips in mind to make your holiday green.  Many people like to barbeque, so try to get recycled paper plates or use good old fashioned dishes that you can wash after the feast.  And try to get local and organic fare for the celebratory meal.  Soy candles are a great, eco-friendly way to provide evening lighting out on your deck or patio and try to find decorations that can be stored and used again next year.  When it comes to the fireworks, remember, the chemicals that make the brightest blasts aren’t the most earth friendly.  Try to find fireworks made from nitrogen rich materials or nitrocellulose which are less toxic and less smoky.  And clean up the mess when you’re done.  Have a happy and safe Fourth of July holiday!
