Homemade Bath Salts

Earthsense

Taking a soothing bath can relax those achy muscles, but why buy bath salts when you can make your own at home?  Combine 1 cup of Epsom salt with half a cup of kosher salt in a large freezer grade resalable bag.  Then add food color one drop at a time and shake until you reach the desired color.  Adding more than one drop at a time can melt your salt and make it clump.

Then add your favorite essential oil a few drops at a time until you reach the scent the appeals to you.  Now spread the salt on a wax paper lined baking sheet and allow it to dry for one to two hours.  This will reduce clumping.  Finally, pour the salts into a nice jar for safe-keeping.  You can decorate the jar or tie on a seashell scoop with ribbon for a nice homemade gift.  Or try making two complimentary colors and scents for a fancy bath time treat.
