Post-Flood Road and Bridge Repairs in Full Swing

DOT workers fill the washed out bridge approach on Bluff Road at I-77.

Road crews from the S.C. Dept. of Transportation are scattered across the state, repairing roads and bridges as swiftly as possible, though it will be months before all are back in service.

On Columbia’s Bluff Road at I-77, a crew aided by road workers from Abbeville repairs a “major washout” of a bridge approach. Meanwhile, across town where S.C. 215 crosses I-20, another out-of-town crew, from Aiken County, helps its local comrades by working on a bridge with washed-out end vents. Both crews feel that, with luck and good weather, these bridges may see traffic flowing in around a week. Drivers, keep your fingers crossed – and remain patient.
