U.S. Small Business Administration Head Visits South Carolina

Maria Contreras-Sweet
SBA

Maria Contreras-Sweet, head of the U.S. Small Business Administration, came to South Carolina to meet with local officials, residents, and business owners to talk about the ongoing recovery efforts after the historic flooding. Working alongside FEMA, the SBA offers disaster relief in the form of low interest rate loans for homeowners, renters, and business owners.

The aid can include up to 2 million in loans for affected business owners to cover inventory or property damage, as well as economic injury from having fewer customers. The SBA has opened business recovery centers in Columbia, Conway, and North Charleston to provide 1-on-1 counseling. The deadline to return applications for physical property damage is December 4. For more information, visit SBA.gov/SC or call 1-800-659-2955 (1-800-877-8339 for deaf or hard-of-hearing individuals).
