Start Composting

So, you’re interested in starting a compost pile.  Well there are a few simple steps you can take to get started: first, find a good location.  You’ll need some space about 2-3 feet away from your home or other structures, like fences or sheds.  Find a place with partial shade that has access to water and is convenient for you to add materials.  Next, you’ll want to decide whether to build a bin enclosure or use a ready-made container.  Now add your food scraps, but avoid putting meats and dairy into your compost as these food groups can breed unwanted bacteria and draw pests.  You’ll want to add some water to help with decomposition and turn your compost once or twice a week.  If an outdoor compost pile is not feasible, there are some indoor composting containers for sale online.
