Grass Free Landscapes

Are you getting tired of watering the grass and spending hours each weekend mowing and trimming?  More and more, people are turning to low maintenance and lawn mower free alternativeslike rock gardens and meadows to beautify their landscapes.  Succulent gardens are good in arid climates and require little watering, although you’ll need to consider the sun to shade ratio in your yard if going the succulent route.  Rock gardens and hardscapes like flagstone walkways with a few container plants might be right if you want little upkeep.  Think about a thyme lawn- establishing a creeping thyme lawn can take a few years, but the herb likes hot, dry temperatures, so it doesn’t need much water and since it only grows to about two inches, it doesn’t need mowing.  Moss, wildflowers and even vegetables can be great lawn free alternatives, too.
