Gov. Haley: "South Carolina is on a Roll."

  In her press conference Wednesday, Governor Nikki Haley praised the hard work of the state's citizens, counties, and municipalities, as well as FEMA and the National Guard, toward South Carolina's recovery from record rainfall and flooding.

Among the information the Governor highlighted: road closings are down to 281 from 541, which is a 48% decrease; all interstate highways are now open. 147 dams are being monitored, including 36 that were breached. The Governor said that inspections are being planned for all "C1 and C2" dams by October 25; 357 have already been inspected, out of 636.

The Governor also announce the first Team South Carolina Day, which is scheduled for Friday in Sumter, 11:00 am - 7:00 pm, at the Civic Center. Those groups wishing to volunteer that day should call the United Way help line at 211 to register. Those needing help will find city, state, county, federal and non-governmental resources available in one place.
