Smoothies and Heart Health 3


Here’s a smoothie recipe that is a sweet, tropical treat!  Combine one apple, one frozen banana, half a cup of pineapple, half a cup of orange juice and a quarter cup of almond milk in your blender or food processor and puree until the mixture is smooth.  If you want a little more tropical flavor add mango or coconut to the mixture.  Smoothies are a great way to get fiber, vitamins, and a good start on your daily fruit and vegetable count. 

You’ll also enjoy a nice energy boost from these fresh ingredients.  Now for today’s heart healthy tip: double the ingredients for this recipe and take it in a to-go cup to work.  Skip the trip to the vending machines and enjoy this as a midday pick- me-up!  Then, take a five minute brisk walk around the office to energize your afternoon!
