New Moms and the Diaper Conundrum

Your browser doesn’t support HTML5 audio

Seems like there are a lot of new mothers in the community now and if you happen to be expecting, consider your diaper options before you choose disposable diapers.  Disposables can be handy and simple, but they can sit in our landfills for years and never decompose.  That’s a big problem!

So, many new moms are going retro with cloth diapers, which can be labor intensive but they don’t end up at the landfill.  You’ll need to factor in the laundering and time constraint if you choose cloth.  A few earth conscious companies are making biodegradable or compostable diapers made from plant based materials, and these are a good option.  Or, you could even try the new and somewhat radical option of going diaper-less altogether, a technique known as elimination communication.
