The push to get Federal District Judge Michelle Childs nominate to the U.S. Supreme Court ramped up this week with Congressman Jim Clyburn and Sen. Lindsey Graham hitting the airwaves. The White House has confirmed that Childs is on President Joe Biden’s short list. He’ll make his decision later this month.

On this edition of the South Carolina Lede for February 5, 2022, we speak with University of South Carolina Political Science Prof. Kirk Randazzo about he why thinks U.S. District Court of South Carolina Judge Michelle Childs is the frontrunner on President Joe Biden’s shortlist to replace retiring Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer. Also on this episode: a look back on the fourth week of the state legislative session; new economic numbers; updates on COVID-19 in the Palmetto State; and more.
