Grow Food Carolina

Making It Grow! Minute logo

Hello Gardeners, I’m Amanda McNulty with Clemson Extension and Making It Grow. Team Making It Grow headed to the Lowcountry recently to film Grow Food Carolina. A division of the Coastal Conservation League, Grow Food operates as a food hub, providing the infrastructure that connects    local farmers and producers with those who need their products; they want farmers to be successful so that their land can remain in agriculture.

Sara Clow and her team not only receive, market, and deliver the finest products from producers but work with them to develop farm production plans so everyone involved knows when specific products are needed and who will provide them. Operating as a non-profit organization, Grow Food Carolina returns as much money to the producers as possible while maintaining a high quality facility and fleet. Since its beginning in 2011, Grow Food Carolina has returned over $3 million dollars to local farmers.

Amanda McNulty is a Clemson University Extension Horticulture agent and the host of South Carolina ETV’s Making It Grow! gardening program. She studied horticulture at Clemson University as a non-traditional student. “I’m so fortunate that my early attempts at getting a degree got side tracked as I’m a lot better at getting dirty in the garden than practicing diplomacy!” McNulty also studied at South Carolina State University and earned a graduate degree in teaching there.
