Hurricane Preparedness 2

Earthsense

We’ve been talking this week about being prepared for hurricane season.  You definitely want to have an emergency kit at home and an emergency plan in place in the case of dangerous weather.

But if a storm threatens, you’ll want to make sure your car is full of gas in case you need to leave suddenly and have a small emergency kit in the car as well.  Keep in mind that you don’t have to wait for an evacuation order to leave.  If you feel the weather may get worse, then be safe and avoid traffic jams by leaving early.  After the storm, you should continue listening to your NOAA radio for extended weather forecasts and flooding information and if you find you need a place to stay, FEMA has a mobile service through which you can locate the closest shelter to your location.
