Strong thunderstorms capable of producing damaging straight line winds are possible Sunday and Monday across portions of the Palmetto State.
Forecast models suggest that isolated severe thunderstorm cells, mainly capable of damaging wind gusts, will be most likely to develop toward the northern Midlands and Upstate, where mid level energy is expected to be strongest.
A strong storm system was producing rounds of heavy rain and thunderstorms in the Northeast and southern Ontario on Saturday afternoon. Several pieces of energy are expected to eject off this system and enter the Mid Atlantic on Sunday and Monday. Above average moisture levels are already setting up over South Carolina, and as mid level energy arrives, thunderstorms will likely quickly develop across the state each afternoon.
Parameters for severe thunderstorms will be strongest Sunday, and a bit weaker although still existent on Monday. Constituents, especially toward the northern Upstate and Midlands are urged to anticipate unsettled weather, and heed weather alerts should they be issued.
