"Making It Grow," with host Amanda McNulty

Hello, I’m Amanda McNulty with Clemson Extension and Making It Grow. Well, even with screens lots of things come through our windows when the attic fan is on, and recently we had a fortuitous invader – mushroom spores. I was flushing the toilet and looked down and there was a mushroom growing between the tiles!! Right on the floor of the upstairs bathroom. We figured there must be a leak and our wonderful friend Bob Lang came and found and fixed it. I guess it’s going to take a while for the wood to completely dry out as a couple of days later, we had another mushroom pop up. I didn’t try to identify it --just added it to the list of strange things that can happen when you live in a really old house that’s pretty open to the elements.

She studied horticulture at Clemson University as a non-traditional student. “I’m so fortunate that my early attempts at getting a degree got side tracked as I’m a lot better at getting dirty in the garden than practicing diplomacy!” McNulty also studied at South Carolina State University and earned a graduate degree in teaching there.
