The beginning of the school year brings challenges and excitement for students and families. One of the most concerning issues is being accepted by peers.
Bullying is a pervasive issue that can lead to low self-esteem, health problems, poor grades and even suicidal thoughts. Nationally 1 out of 5 students between the ages of 12 and 18 are bullied every year.
When bullied, students need support from adults and peers. Most importantly, they need to feel that they can talk to someone about their experiences.
While there is no simple solution to eradicate bullying, numerous resources are available to provide support to those in need.
