Student Gardens

So you’re trying to live a more sustainable lifestyle and you want your children to learn good habits.  They’re involved in the recycling at home, and maybe they’ve already learned to turn the lights off when they leave a room.  Why not teach your children about planting fruits and vegetables?  Get in touch with your student’s science teacher and suggest a student garden project.  This is a perfect opportunity and a great time of year to teach children to love gardening and to grow some vegetables that can be shared with the community.  With so many little hands to share the work, the project could be a huge success and foster good team working skills as well as school pride.  And teachers, think about all the lesson plans you could build around the pumpkins, soy beans, carrots, spinach, and even onions that could crop up in a school garden.
