Exercise Outdoors - Swim

 Now that the warmer weather is coming on strong, it’s a great time to get outdoors for your daily exercise.  South Carolina offers a number of lakes, rivers, and beaches for swimmers to strengthen that backstroke.  There are some things to consider before hitting the water, so keep these tips in mind.

First and foremost, wear your sunscreen and reapply as needed.  Even if you’re a strong swimmer, start in shallow water until your get used to open water and try to find a location with a lifeguard on duty.  There’s safety in numbers, so take a swim buddy or even a pal with a canoe or kayak along with you.  Remember that there will be living things in the water like fish and plants…you are the visitor in a marine eco-system, so stay calm and take the time to commune with nature.
