Republican Congressman Ralph Norman of South Carolina has announced that he has tested positive for COVID-19. Norman learned he had tested positive just before noon Thursday, following what his office says were mild symptoms in the morning.
Norman has bristled against wearing a mask at the Capitol and was even fined for not doing so. But he is fully vaccinated. In a short statement, the congressman said he will make every effort to work virtually in self-quarantine for the next 10 days.
The announcement comes just days after Senator Lindsey Graham announced HE had tested positive. The senator is also self-quarantining and is said to be experiencing only mild symptoms so far as well.
Congressman Norman is planning a series of town halls later this month. A representative from his office says the COVID diagnosis should not interrupt.
Rep. Norman's full statement:
“After experiencing minor symptoms this morning, I sought a COVID-19 test and was just informed the test results were positive. Thankfully, I have been fully vaccinated and my symptoms remain mild. To every extent possible, I will continue my work virtually while in quarantine for the next ten (10) days."
