“C” is for Can-Am Days

“C” is for Can-Am Days. Can-Am Days is the abbreviated name for the annual Canadian-American Days festival in the Myrtle Beach area. The Myrtle Beach Chamber of Commerce began the festival in 1961 as a means of attracting vacationing Canadian families during their annual winter school break. Each year Can-Am Days features numerous events and activities during a nine day period (that coincides with Ontario’s school holiday). They include tours, converts, tournaments, and unique events such as the International Kitefest and the Little Olympics. Entertainment is the immediate thrust of the festival, but the main effort it to enhance awareness of the Grand Strand in the minds of potential vacationers. On several occasions, Can-Am Days has received the Shining Example Award as the most outstanding festival of the year by the Southeast Tourism Society.
