CDC Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky lifted the temporary pause on the Johnson & Johnson vaccine after 15 people out of 8 million reported having severe but rare blood clots that resulted in three deaths. Health officials determined that the benefits of the vaccine and lives saved as a result of it far outweigh the potential side effects.
