Exercise Outdoors - Run


South Carolina offers abundant parks and public places for recreation, but for runners every surface is a possible personal record.  With mountain trails, miles of beaches, and sunny weather calling your name, it’s time to get off that treadmill and head outdoors for your next run.

First, be sure you have the right gear, road shoes are fine for packed dirt trails, but if you’re really getting off road, you’ll want trail running shoes.  As with any exercise routine, don’t overdo it your first time out; start with shorter runs on surfaces you’re not accustomed to.  Wear your sunscreen, and bring along some water and a running buddy in case you run into problems.  Don’t forget to keep an eye out for roots and branches in your path or any woodland creatures that may be scurrying about.
