Birdseed Wreath

Backyard birding is a fun hobby, but if you’re looking to attract more birds to your backyard, try making a birdseed wreath.  You can use your favorite bunt pan or ring pan- the more decorative, the better.  You could use a shaped cake pan, but place a cup or glass in the center so you can hang your wreath later.  Spray the mold or pan with nonstick cooking spray.

Then, in a large bowl stir together one package of plain gelatin, half a cup of warm water, three tablespoons of light corn syrup, or maple syrup, and ¾ cup of flour until it becomes a paste.  Add 4 cups of birdseed and mix well.  Press the mixture into your oiled bunt pan and wait 24 to 48 hours for the mold to dry completely.  Use a length of fabric ribbon to hang your wreath outdoors and enjoy watching the birds!  You’ll want to hang your birdseed wreath where it won’t get too wet to avoid mold.
