Good Folks, Good Animals, Great Neighbors

Making It Grow logo

Hello Gardeners, I’m Amanda McNulty with Clemson Extension and Making It Grow. First, they had two young boys who ran around barefooted most of the year and were interested in everything that was going on in their yard or ours, the grosser and gorier the better. Their parents grilled a great steak and mixed a mean Bloody Mary and had gizmos galore – one blows up a lawn mower tire and another steams delicious South Carolina oysters. But the icing on the cake was the animals. Clovis, a field trial English Cocker Spaniel, is the most perfect, and I use those words on purpose, most perfect dog in the whole wide world. He’s beautifully trained, never barks, and is loving to a fault. The chickens and ducks were interesting and had a semi-happy ending, more on them later.

Amanda McNulty is a Clemson University Extension Horticulture agent and the host of South Carolina ETV’s Making It Grow! gardening program. She studied horticulture at Clemson University as a non-traditional student. “I’m so fortunate that my early attempts at getting a degree got side tracked as I’m a lot better at getting dirty in the garden than practicing diplomacy!” McNulty also studied at South Carolina State University and earned a graduate degree in teaching there.
