The Summerton Food Bank in Clarendon County posted on Facebook Sunday that its food storage area had been broken into, leaving the food bank without critical goods amid the holiday feeding season.
The post mentioned that all of the food bank's salmon, chicken, tuna and beef stew are gone as well as the majority of its canned vegetables, canned fruits, pasta, and other nonperishable goods.
The food bank stresses that the loss is major and happened ahead of a planned community event for the senior citizens of Summerton.
