What is HD Radio?
About HD Radio
Through HD radio, listeners can continue to hear their favorite programs on traditional analog radios, while those with HD-enabled receivers gain access to additional subchannels and digital-only content. Plus, these HD channels will always be available to livestream wherever you listen to South Carolina Public Radio.
What is HD radio?
HD Radio is a digital upgrade to traditional FM and AM radio. By broadcasting digitally over the same radio waves, a single frequency can now carry multiple streams of content, which are often labeled as HD1, HD2 or HD3.
- HD1 carries the same programming you hear on traditional analog broadcast, but in crystal-clear digital quality.
- Additional HD subchannels allow South Carolina Public Radio the opportunity to broadcast entirely new services.
- In addition to improved sound, HD radio receivers display helpful on-screen information such as song titles, artist names and program details.
