More than a dozen new measles cases confirmed in the Upstate, state totals this year now nearing 100

The South Carolina Department of Public Health is reporting 14 new cases of measles in the Upstate since Friday. The virus has now sickened 76 people in the current outbreak, bringing the total number of illnesses in the state this year to 79.

The South Carolina Department of Public Health (DPH) announced Tuesday 14 additional cases of measles in the Upstate.

The virus has now sickened 76 people in the current outbreak, bringing the total number of illnesses in the state this year to 79. Currently, there are 134 individuals in quarantine and one in isolation.

As more cases are confirmed, state health officials say the number of of public exposures in area schools also has increased. Those who may be impacted have been notified about the potential exposures. DPH will continue to provide updates accordingly.

While there are currently no mobile vaccination clinics scheduled, any businesses or organizations interested in scheduling a vaccination event from DPH’s Mobile Health Unit can request a visit by completing this form.
