The measles virus has sickened nine more people in the Upstate, according to an update released Friday by the South Carolina Department of Public Health. In all, 144 people have become ill in the current outbreak.

The measles virus continues to infect more people in the Upstate. Nine additional illnesses have been confirmed, according to an update released Friday by the South Carolina Department of Public Health (DPH).

In all, 144 people have become ill in the current Update outbreak. There have been 147 cases of measles throughout the state this year.

All but three of the new cases resulted from previously known illnesses or public exposures. The source of the others has not yet been determined.

There are currently 224 people in quarantine and 4 in isolation.
