South Carolina travelers who do not yet have a REAL ID must be compliant before Feb. 1 or expect to pay a fee for air travel.

The Transportation Safety Administration (TSA) is reminding all air travelers who do not have a REAL ID or an acceptable form of identification that they must be compliant before Feb. 1 or expect to pay a fee.

The charge for non-compliant travelers will be $45 to use TSA ConfirmID. With ConfirmID, TSA will attempt to verify a traveler's identity, but there is no guarantee. If verified, the documentation is good for 10 days.

TSA reminds that the process is optional, but travelers who choose not to use ConfirmID and don't have an acceptable form of identification may not be allowed through airport security.

Additional information, including Frequently Asked Questions, can be found on the TSA website.
