The U.S. Geological Survey confirmed a 3.0 magnitude earthquake occurred near Irmo, but the tremors could also be felt in Columbia, Forest Acres, Lexington, Chapin and other areas around Lake Murray.
This is the fourth reported earthquake near Irmo since mid-February when three hit in the span of a few days. A 2.8 magnitude earthquake shook the area on 2/13, a 1.9 on 2/15, and a 1.8 on 2/16.
