Some consumers are confused about new federal safety rules that acknowledge the potential risk of automobile air bags to children and small people sitting in the front seat. Yesterday, a 1-year-old Idaho girl was killed when a passenger-side air bag deployed in a parking lot collision. Thousands of people have called a toll-free number of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to get answers...and car dealers say they will discourage their customers from disconnecting air bags, an idea floated by federal officials last week.
