The Australian sextet Alpine created a sensation at South by Southwest a couple of years ago, following the 2012 release of their debut album A Is for Alpine. Their newest collection, set for release on Tuesday, has a more bracing title: Yuck.

Vocalists Phoebe Baker and Lou James, along with guitarist and producer Christian O'Brien, spoke to NPR's Scott Simon from Melbourne about the upcoming release, the themes behind the new album's name and the day jobs that have sustained the members even as their profile grows.
