'Powering a New South'

South Carolina is one of the fastest emerging markets for renewable energy and it’s no surprise that our universities are fostering this interest in green power.  Coastal Carolina University’s Athenaeum Press, a student-driven publishing lab, has created a digital publication called ‘Powering a New South.’ The webpage features the stories of local people and how renewable energy has impacted their lives.  Like the story of Tom and Diana Kerr on how they have adjusted to living in a 125 square foot ‘tiny house.’ One article looks at the sustainable lifestyle of Chris Farmer, a resident of Earthaven Ecovillage near Asheville.  And Monroe Baldwin, the Chairman for the North Strand Coastal Wind Team, discusses how he envisions the future of wind energy off Myrtle Beach.  Powering a New South
