SC Farmer's Markets

The Local and Slow food movements are gaining ground in South Carolina and your farmer’s market is a great place to find fresh, regional, and organic food while you support community farms and the local economy. Did you know that buying food that has been grown in your area is also good for the environment?  The average food item will travel 1,500 Miles on its journey to your home whereas locally grown produce travels 50 miles on average.  Also, resident farmers tend to use more sustainable farming methods like crop rotation and growing multiple crops at once to ensure biodiversity and more nutrient rich soil.  The South Carolina Department of Agriculture’s website lists farmer’s markets in South Carolina including state farmer’s markets.
