As Debby closes in on the state, conditions are becoming more favorable for tornadoes. The National Weather Service has issued a Tornado Watch for southern portions of the Lowcountry through 4 pm. The changing winds with height are becoming conducive for rotation in Debbys rainbands, and this storm has had a history of spinning up quick tornadoes.
Debby is moving north northeast and is not moving quickly, at only 8 mph. Weather forecast models are indicating that steering currents are weak in our area, which keeps Debby over South Carolina for much of the week. During this period of time, isolated tornadoes will remain a possibility.
