The State Election Commission confirmed observers with the U.S. Department of Justice will be stationed in Charleston County on Election Day.

A state election spokesperson said it had not received any further communication from the DOJ, including whether observers planned to be stationed in any other county.

Polls open on Tuesday

Posted November 3, 2026 at 7:00 AM EST

Polling locations are now open for South Carolinians to visit until 7 p.m.

More than 1 million people voted early in the state's no-excuse early vote period. On Tuesday, anybody who has not cast a ballot will make their choice in the state's gubernatorial and open U.S. Senate seat races — among other contests.

The South Carolina Election Commission provides sample ballot and polling place information on its website.

A photo ID is needed to vote.

South Carolina ETV and Public Radio will provide live election coverage from 8 to 9 p.m.
