SC Lede: The Usual Suspects (Abortion and CRT)

Members of the South Carolina House of Representatives passed a bill, H. 3728, to outlaw the teaching of concepts of critical race theory along party lines Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2023. The bill codifies the language that has been passed for the past two years in the form of budget provisos, which expire every year. The House previously passed a similar bill to the Senate which did not take up the measure. There are greater expectations this year that the Senate will act because members of the 46 member chamber are up for reelection next year.
