When we look at the data, excellent attendance is the single strongest predictor of better student outcomes. Students with 95% attendance or better beat the state average for similar students on every single outcome metric (grades, test scores, college and career readiness, graduation rates, etc.) even after controlling socioeconomic status or disability status. Encouraging better attendance is probably the best thing educators and families alike can do to support improved student outcomes.
