St. Patrick's Day events happening around South Carolina

St. Patrick’s Day is a religious and cultural holiday on March 17 to honor the death date of Saint Patrick, the foremost patron saint of Ireland. The holiday is celebrated around the world with parades, food and drink, and dancing.

Many around the Palmetto State take the celebration of St. Patrick’s Day seriously, so we have compiled a list of must-attend events for St. Patrick’s Day weekend.

Upstate

· St. Paddy’s Day Paint Shop, Friday, March 15, 2 p.m. – 4 p.m.

A Cut Above Maker Space is hosting an event the entire family can enjoy where children can paint leprechauns and use yarn to make their beards. Owners said the painting should take around 45 minutes to complete and supplies are included.

· Greenville St. Patrick’s Day Parade & Festival, Saturday, March 16

The first Greenville St. Patrick’s Day celebration started in 1918 when soldiers training at Camp Sevier had a parade. Since then, the celebration has grown with concerts, festivals, theatrical performances, and even bicycle races. The parade starts 10 a.m. on Main Street’s West End through NOMA Square and the festival will take place at the NOMA Square from 11 a.m. – 8 p.m.

· St. Patrick’s Shamrockita & Candle Making, Saturday, March 16, 5 p.m.

Array of Colors is hosting a Shamrockarita & Candle-Making event for a way for people to show off their creative skills by creating and designing custom candles. There also will be a signature Shamrockarita cocktail in the spirit of St. Patrick’s Day.

· Greenville Swamp Rabbits St. Patrick’s Day Game, Saturday, March 16, 7:05 p.m.

The East Coast Hockey League team Greenville Swamp Rabbits is hosting a match against the Toledo Walleye, with the puck dropping on the ice at 7:05 p.m. at the Bon Secours Wellness Arena.

· St. Patty’s Day Boozy Book Fair, Sunday, March 17, 2-4 p.m.

The Boozy Book Fair is back in Greenville County for St. Patrick’s Day. Book categories include: Luck of the Irish, Romantic Reads, Geeks and Gamers, Gothic Ghastly, Read the Rainbow, Truth ‘R Us, Criminally Good Reads, and more.

· Craft Axe Throwing, Sunday, March 17

Test your skills against your friends this St. Patrick’s Day with a trip to Craft Axe Throwing. The company will be having special green deals.

· Bohemian Bull’s Leprechaun Brunch, Sunday, March 17, 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.

The Bohemian Bull American Beer Garden and Tavern is hosting a special leprechaun brunch in celebration of St. Patrick’s Day. From 11 a.m. – 3 p.m., the restaurant will have a brunch menu alongside specialty March cocktails.

· St. Patrick’s Day Paddy Hard Bar Crawl, Saturday & Sunday, March 16-17, 4 p.m. – 10 p.m.

Bring your friends along with lucky four-leaf clovers and party! This Greenville bar crawl celebrating St. Patrick's Day will encompass dynamic music and entertainment in the heart of Greenville.

· Delaney’s Shenanigans on the Square, Saturday, March 16, 12:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.

Delaney’s Irish Pub will host a day filled with fun activities, vendors, drink specials and more in the heart of Spartanburg. There will also be a zone dedicated to kids so young ones can join in on the fun as well.

Midlands

· St. Pat’s in Five Points, Saturday, March 16, 7:30 a.m. – 7 p.m.

St. Pat is in Five Points returns for the 42nd time and it is South Carolina’s largest one-day festival. The Five Points area will have an alcohol-free mocktail lounge, a learn-to-skate beginners clinic, and a Logan’s Irish Pub pop-up.

· 9th annual Shamrock Parade, Saturday, March 16

The Lexington County Blowfish baseball team is hosting the 9th annual Shamrock Parade happening on Main Street in Lexington. The parade will be filled with Irish dancers, choo choo trains, musical acts, floats, pageant winners, and more!

· Savage Craft St. Paddy’s Day Bash, Saturday, March 16, 11:30 a.m. – 11 p.m.

Savage Craft Ale Works in Columbia is hosting its annual St. Patrick’s Day celebration. At the event will be a special collaboration beverage with Angry Fish Brewery and the "Wee Biit o'Witt" Beer is returning as well. There also will be a menu with authentic Irish delights to elevate the experience.

· Lucky #7 Day Party, Saturday, March 16, 3 p.m.

At Seven Sports Bar in Columbi, there will be green drinks specials and wings. DJ Gooch will provide the soundtrack.

· MJ’s annual St. Patty’s Day Celebration, March 16, 6 p.m. – 10 p.m.

The annual St. Patty’s Day celebration will feature The Killer Beez performing live outside from 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. There will also be expanded outdoor seating and a beer tent with draft options, green beer and Irish margaritas. There will also be food and drink specials indoors and outside.

Lowcountry

· Charleston’s St. Patrick Day Parade, Saturday, March 16

The Charleston’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade has been an event for over 25 years. The family-friendly event is a celebration of Irish American and Irish culture. The parade will begin at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church on Radcliffe Street and will end at the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist on Broad St.

· Bumpa’s 2 day St. Patrick’s Day celebration, Saturday – Sunday, March 16-17

The Charleston area bar will be hosting a two-day event that will have a special menu featuring corned beef, cottage pie, and more. There will also be live music, step dancers, and bagpipe players performances.

· St. Patrick’s Day Family Fun Event at The Charleston Museum, Sunday, March 17, 1 p.m. - 3 p.m.

At this event, you will be able to create your own lucky leprechaun, rainbow twirler, and a special shamrock! This drop-in event is free with membership or admission to the Charleston Museum and is suitable for all ages.

Pee Dee County

· Race for a Pot o’ Gold, Saturday, March 16, 1 p.m. – until

The Race for a Pot o' Gold event is a chance for racers to compete for a grand prize. Various different vehicle races will take place, including super trucks, mini stocks, legend cars and late models. Gates will be opened at 1 p.m. with with qualifying races starting at 2 p.m. and featured races starting at 3:15 p.m.

· Lucky Shamrock Festival, March 15 – March 17, Friday – Sunday

At the Lucky Shamrock Festival, festival goers will have the opportunity to party to live music from the Jebb Music Band. There will also be food available for purchase from Grump Weiner and Victors as well as shopping at boutique booths. Admission is free.
