Unemployment rate by county for February of 2025

South Carolina’s unemployment rate dropped by a tenth of a point in February. Data from the S.C. Department of Employment and Workforce shows a new record of 2,443,080 employed in the state. That’s an increase of 3,413 people over the January 2025 estimate, and 21,049 people over the February 2024 estimate.

DEW’s Executive Director William Floyd said, “As the state’s population has rapidly grown, it has taken some time to absorb many of the new labor market entrants into our state’s workforce, but February’s numbers indicate that those hirings are happening and that the number of unemployed residents in South Carolina is dropping.”

Floyd highlighted the ways residents can connect with internships through colleges, universities, industry programs, and workforce partners where on-the-job training can provide further opportunities for students and potential employees to connect with agencies and businesses that are hiring.

“Many of these jobs can be found at the Youth Employment Site (YES). Employers are also encouraged to visit the site and post their jobs.”
