The South Carolina State Election Commission (SEC) is reminding voters that the deadline to register for Municipal Election Day is Sunday, October 5. Municipal Election Day is Tuesday, November 4, when most municipalities across South Carolina will hold elections.
In South Carolina, you must register by the deadline to be eligible to vote. This may be done online at scvotes.org , in person at your county voter registration office (most offices will close at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, October 3 for in-person registrations), by fax or email or by standard mail (must be postmarked by Monday, October 6).
Residents who are already registered to vote may confirm their voter registration is up-to-date by visiting the SEC website. To vote in a municipal election:
- You must be registered to vote at an address within the municipality.
- If you've moved to a new county, you must register in your new county by the registration deadline.
- If you've moved within your county or recently changed your name, update your information to avoid any delays on Election Day.
