The South Carolina Department of Public health has announced additional dates and locations for residents to receive the measles-mumps-rubella vaccine, at no cost, as the total number of confirmed cases in SC this year reaches 25.

The South Carolina Department of Public Health (DPH) has confirmed two new cases of measles in Spartanburg County since Tuesday, bringing the total number of cases in South Carolina this year to 25 and the total number of cases in the current Upstate outbreak to 22.

Both cases were linked to close contacts of known cases who had been quarantining at home. State health officials stress that early quarantining following an identified exposure is highly effective in preventing community spread.

In response to the ongoing measles outbreak, will continue to offer free measles vaccines to residents next week:

  • Oct. 29 and Oct. 30: 2 p.m. - 6 p.m. at Inman Library, 50 Mill St., Inman.
  • Nov. 3, 5 and 6: 1 p.m. - 4 p.m. at Boiling Springs Library, 871 Double Bridge Rd., Boiling Springs.

In response to the outbreak, DPH first deployed its mobile health unit last week. 21 MMR vaccines were given—18 adults and three children.
