The South Carolina Department of Probation, Parole and Pardon Services will once again enforce a statewide curfew on Halloween night for child sex offenders under the department's supervision.

A statewide curfew is once again in place this Halloween to monitor convicted child sex offenders who are under the supervision of the South Carolina Department of Probation, Parole and Pardon Services (SCDPPPS).

The curfew is scheduled from 5:30 p.m. - 9 p.m. on Oct. 31 and only applies to individuals convicted of child sex offenses, under the jurisdiction of SCDPPPS. Offenders have been instructed to:

  • Remain at home during the curfew and not attend any Halloween parties or other festivities.
  • Not turn on their porch or exterior lights nor distribute candy or treats to trick-or-treaters.

All actively supervised offenders will be under surveillance checks which will be conducted by SCDPPS agents during home visits on Halloween night.

SCDPPS reports that last Halloween 560 residence checks were performed across all SC counties, 151 additional offenders reported in to SCDPPPS staff at an assigned location, four arrests were made and six cell phones were collected as possible evidence.

Concerned citizens may visit the State Law Enforcement Division website for a list of sex offenders in their area at: http://scor.sled.sc.gov/ConditionsOfUse.Aspx.
