The latest report from the South Carolina Department of Public Health brings the total number of measles cases in the state this year to 37.

The South Carolina Department of Public Health (DPH) has confirmed four additional cases of measles in Spartanburg County. The update, released Friday, brings the total number of cases in the state this year to 37 and the total number of cases in the current Upstate outbreak to 34.

According to state health officials, the four new cases are linked to individuals with known illnesses, but no public health exposures have been identified from these cases.

To help prevent spread, DPH will continue to offer the measles-mumps-rubella (MMR) vaccinations to residents, at no cost. The schedule next week is:

  • Nov. 3, 5 and 6 from 1 p.m. - 4 p.m. at Boiling Springs Library, 871 Double Bridge Rd., Boiling Springs.

DPH has immunized 28 individuals since deploying its mobile health unit on Oct. 16—23 adults and 5 children.
