The South Carolina Department of Health announced Tuesday that there have been no new confirmed cases of measles in the state since Friday. However, state health officials continue to urge caution due to increased reports in the United States.

The South Carolina Department of Public Health (DPH) is reporting no new cases of measles in the state since Friday. The total number of cases in South Carolina this year remains at 37 and the total number of cases in the current Upstate outbreak remains at 34.

State health officials remind that despite the update, the risk of new cases in S.C. remains real because of growing reports across the U.S., combined with the upcoming holiday travel season.

To help protect the public, DPH continues to offer the measles-mumps-rubella (MMR) vaccinations, at no cost. Residents can receive the MMR vaccine tomorrow and Thursday from 1 p.m. - 4 p.m. at Boiling Springs Library, 871 Double Ridge Rd., Boiling Springs.

Since the free immunizations began in mid-October, DPH has administered 30 doses of MMR vaccine.
