Motorists can expect delays along Leesburg Rd. in Richland County beginning next week as part of a road widening project in the area. The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) announced plans Friday.
On Wednesday, Nov. 19, drivers will be directed from the current roadway to the new pavement between Lower Richland Blvd. to Mountain Brook Dr. A temporary crossover will be installed to direct traffic back onto the original alignment at Mountain Brook Dr. for the night.
On Thursday, Nov. 20, traffic on Leesburg Rd. will be shifted to the new alignment from Mountain Brook Dr. to Twin Lakes Rd.
SCDOT encourages drivers to allow for extra time because of the shifts. Motorists are also asked to slow down and pay attention to crews directing traffic.
Construction on the project is expected to be complete by spring o2027
