Newberry County EMS treated both children at the scene for non life-threatening injures before they were taken to the hospital. A Newberry Sheriff's Office Facebook post states that two other two other young children were at the home during the incident but were not injured.

Both Tyresa Cunningham, 28, and Tyleik Sanders, 21, have been charged with unlawful neglect toward a child. Sanders also is charged with obstruction of justice.

Tyleik Sanders and Tyresa Cunningham face charges in a shooting that injured two children.

Investigators say a gun was inside a closet when one of the children found it but have not yet determined which child pulled the trigger.

In a statement, Cunningham says she was cleaning the house and Sanders says he was in the shower when the shooting happened. Sanders is accused of getting rid of the gun before deputies could recover it.
