Clemson University's Board of Trustees has named Robert (Bob) Jones as interim president following the announced retirement of President Jim Clements, effective December 31. Jones, who currently serves as executive vice president for academic affairs and provost, will officially step into the interim role on January 1.
In addition to Jones' appointment, the Board met Wednesday to also establish a presidential search committee and discuss the hiring of a national search firm. The Board's goal is to have a new leader in place by fall 2026.
Jones became Clemson's first EVP for academic affairs and provost in September 2014. Clements announced his retirement Wednesday following 12 years as university president. He plans to return to Clemson in a faculty position following a sabbatical.
