Verizon is offering impacted customers a $20 credit for Wednesday's hours-long service outage.

Verizon customers impacted by this week's service outage may redeem a $20 credit for the inconvenience. The outage disrupted calling and other cellular services for more than 10 hours Wednesday.

According to outage tracker Downdetector, customer complaints began around noon EST. Wednesday, with more than 1.5 million reports of problems before 5 p.m. EST.

Verizon apologized on social media, and a spokesperson later added that the company would give those impacted a $20 account credit through Verizon's app, which on average “covers multiple days of service," and directly contact its business customers with compensation.

Verizon has not yet specified what caused the outage.
