SLED investigates officer-involved shooting in Orangeburg County

The incident marks the sixth officer-involved shooting in South Carolina this year.

The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) is investigating an officer-involved shooting in Orangeburg County.

According to a news release from SLED, Orangeburg County deputies fired at a man during an encounter Sunday at a home on Neeses Highway. Deputies were responding to a domestic disturbance call at the residence.

No one was shot or injured. The man was taken into custody.

The incident marks the sixth officer-involved shooting in South Carolina this year and the first involving the Orangeburg County Sheriff's Office. Last year, there were 45 officer-involved shootings in the state, including one in Orangeburg County.
