The case was investigated by the U.S. Airforce Security Forces Squadron.

A former daycare employee at Shaw Airforce Base is accused of child abuse.

U.S. District Attorney Bryan Stirling announced 29-year-old Tyrel Mack was indicted on 7 counts of physically abusing children in his care.

According to the Thursday announcement, the indictment alleges Mack assaulted four different minor victims on seven different occasions in Nov., 2025. Mack is accused of kicking, hitting, striking, and stepping on children aged 5 and younger.

If convicted, Mack faces a maximum penalty of one year in federal prison for each of the seven charges.

Assistant U.S. Attorneys Scott Matthews and Elle E. Klein are prosecuting the case.
